Did you ever stumble upon a web site that’s beautifully designed with the proper dose of flash, whistles and bells and a perfect blend of colors, but come away feeling disappointed because the site was heavy on form but light in substance?
Expert copywriters who write for the web know what kind of articles your business needs to bring it to the next level. And when we say next level, we mean a higher conversion sales rate and substantial traffic of visitors who will not only stare and ogle at your site but actually click on the BUY button. To achieve this it’s important to put emphasis on your site’s written articles. It’s not merely a question of having articles that display correct grammar that have an engaging style, but articles that sizzle and capture your target audience. They sizzle because they’re relevant; they have oomph because they focus on your customers’ hot buttons.
Article Writing: Fundamentals
Writing articles that are relevant: relevance is a crucial ingredient because without it, you’ll lose the interest of your visitor in a snap. When thinking of writing articles to post on your web site, here are some questions you should address:
- What goods or services am I peddling and how do I convince the visitor that they fulfill his needs? Is the tone and content of my articles geared towards a specific age group?
- Do my articles demonstrate that my business has the expertise about the goods and services I’m selling? In other words, are my articles packed with information that the customer can use, and not articles that contain useless, superfluous data – the kind that good web masters instantly recognize as fluff and flaky?
- Are my articles up to date? Do they reflect recent research and don’t look like they’ve been dug up from a buried stack of stale and obsolete articles?
Writing articles that are keyword-rich: a web site can’t expect to compete in the e-commerce jungle without effective keywords. Keywords are staples of the internet and if chosen correctly and positioned strategically in the articles, they facilitate the work of search engines. Remember that cyberspace is crawling with search spiders that capture content for internet researchers. No keyword, no traffic, and no traffic, no business. That’s the cardinal rule. You’ve probably heard of stories where people would pay an arm and a leg for certain keywords. Good keywords come with a price tag. But you need not shell out substantial dollars if you know and understand the use of keywords and respect keyword density. Write your articles so you can insert keywords that will make the search engines notice you.
Writing articles that don’t smack of plagiarism or violate copyright –
If you want your business to stay afloat, don’t be tempted to borrow another web site’s articles so you can populate your web site with the least amount of effort. The articles have to be unique, fresh, and written in your voice. We have spotted web sites that have identical content and we’ve often wondered who copied who. This is the type of situation that cheapens the art of writing articles. Show some respect for your audience by giving them content that they will remember and lead them to say hmmm…makes sense.
Writing articles that are cumbersome to read: you can spot the amateur writers quickly. Insecure of their writing abilities, they pluck high-brow words from the dictionary so that they give the impression of being arrogant intellectuals or pedagogical fakes. Articles that use simple, everyday words sound more credible than articles reeking of pompous words. If you’re selling dog collars, there’s no need to sound like an academic snob. Give your reader the scoop and facts, don’t give him indigestion.
