Reading a well written text is not as difficult as writing one. Neither
is reading as fun as writing. For the writer, gaining a captive
audience through well written articles can be a challenge, but it is so
much fun as well.
A great way to develop your writing skill is through article writing. Articles bequeath the opportunity to focus on a few points in a short period of time. You might even be able to slip a little story in.
The first article I ever submitted was published. I couldn’t believe it. I had gone to a writer’s conference where I was told “go home, write an article, and submit it for publication.” The newbies in the room looked at each other, smiling, as if to say, “yeah, right, like I am going to get published on my first try.”
Good thing that my Mother taught me to do as I was told.
I haven’t looked back, as I have been published a few hundred times. You will be too if you keep in mind three keys to article writing.
First,
create a text consistent with the level of your expertise and
experience. If you write above yourself, you are looking for trouble.
Second, write like you speak, and then go back and formalize your speech with proper grammar and punctuation. It takes time to develop your unique voice, so stay simple.
Third, construct the article with the thoughts and ideas rolling around in your heart and mind. Form the structure that best highlights your ideas. Then reinforce main ideas with supporting material to fill out the article. Be sure to edit and re-write until you are happy with the article.
A well written article always gains a captive audience. Touch someone’s heart with creativity, competence, and a cool writing style. Stay motivated through diversity and delight.
